Since Barrack Obama took over the Presidency, people and the media seem to be giving the former President George W. Bush a free ride. It almost seems like everyone forgot why Americans turned on him and his party. I recently had someone ask me, “why do so many people hate George Bush?” My, how quickly us Americans forget. So here is my solution and a way to persevere the true Bush Legacy.

20 Reasons People Hate George W. Bush.

#20. He was bad for science. The most famous case was the ban on Stem Cell Research, but he also cut grant funding for other less controversial research. If you would like to know more, you should read The untouchables of US science

#19. He Spoke poorly, embarrassing the citizens of United States. There are entire calendars of hilarious quoted grammar gaffes by George Bush. He graduated From Yale. I’m sure his communications professor was just thrilled. Check out this youtube video to see what I’m talking about.

We have a saying here in the united states, shame on……me……no you……or…..maybe……When he spoke he shamed us all.

#18. He gave tax breaks to the rich. Maybe I’m just cynical, but giving tax breaks to people who don’t need them is not a good idea. His reasoning is that these people would invest back into the economy by growing businesses and investing in the markets. Of course super rich people don’t really need more money, so they just put it in an interest earning account. This was plainly obvious at the end of Bush’s term when the economy took a nose dive. That tax break money left the stock market like rats fleeing a sinking ship.

#17. He deregulated markets and then bailed out the companies that killed themselves. This was the cause of the economy going to hell. Deregulation caused a big fake bubble, that popped like a pimple full of badly written mortgages and crooked hedge funds. Worse still, he helped these companies by giving them tax payer money. I mean, what kind of so called conservative does this?

#16 His administration tried to rename French fries to Freedom Fries. This made us look fucking stupid. French Fries are not even a french food. The french have been our ally on many battlefields and just because they didn’t side with Bush at the United Nations, he tried to insult them by renaming a food that wasn’t even french. It is mind boggling I know.

#15 He declared that “major combat operations “had ended in Iraq. Even though, years later we had the so called “Surge”. He even had a nice mission accomplished banner behind him. This man suffered from verbal premature ejaculation on National Television. Watch it for yourself. Check out this youtube video.

#14 He fired 12 US Attorney’s for political reasons. In a congressional investigation Bush’s Attorney General of the United States, Alberto Gonzales, said he didn’t recall 72 times. At best his recollections were incompetence, at worst this was obstruction of Justice. Still you got to give it to old Gonzo, that was a brilliant move. Watch his recollections on this video.

#13 He gave no bid contracts to Halliburtion. Vice President Dick Cheney was Halliburton’s chief executive from 1995 to 2000 . If that is not a conflict of interest, then I don’t know what is. Why not try bidding? After all that is how us capitalist do it. Read the whole story here.

#12 He bullied the United Nations and other countries. Check out Bush’s UN Ambassador John Bolton . Would you listen to this guy?

#11. The national debt grew by more than $4 trillion during George W. Bush’s presidency. It was the biggest increase under any president in U.S history. The man claimed to be a conservative and then ran up a largest bill ever. At the end of his presidency the economy was tanking. He basically pulled a dine and dash on the American people and all the real conservatives that voted for him. Check out this article.

#10. He hurt the environment. George Bush campaigned on regulation of carbon dioxide as a pollutant. Then he turned around and didn’t sign Kyoto. That is just the beginning. Read this article about Bush’s Environmental legacy.

#9. He championed the Patriot Act. It has a nice name, but this thing is pushing the envelope of our constitution. It should have been named the “Spy on Americans act” If you got a few minutes, you should really read this act

#8. He Used fear and scare tactics. Bush pushed fear not only to get votes but to drum up support for the Iraq war. In a September 8th 2003 interview with Wolf Blizter, Bush’s National Security Adviser said the following:

“The problem here is that there will always be some uncertainty about how quickly Saddam can acquire nuclear weapons. But we don’t want the smoking gun to be a mushroom cloud.”
Condoleezza Rice

I smelled bullshit then and I can still smell it. We never did find any weapons of mass destruction. Even now, Dick Cheney warns of Mushroom clouds over American cities. “THE SKY IS FALLING! THE SKY IS FALLING!”

#7 He didn’t put Enough Resources into Afghanistan. George got so worked up over Iraq, he almost forgot that he was running another war. A war that was justified. In essence, the lack of resources in Afghanistan made us less safe. The Taliban are back up to their Pre-September 11 strength. George dropped the ball. That makes sense, when you factor in that he was a cheerleader in college instead of a running back..

#6. He had his men try to force a hospitalized Attorney General to sign off on illegal wiretaps. Like a scene out of the godfather, the acting Attorney General Comey, had to rush to the room to put a stop to the hit, I mean the signing. This movie scene is best told by Comey himself. Watch this testimony. It might be long, but is is worth it. Get some popcorn.

#5. He didn’t change a failed strategy in Iraq until there was a major loss of Republican seats. The president refused to listen to anyone about the war until the Democrats had a major congressional victory. This shows that politics were guiding his decision making more than intelligence. I mean what general doesn’t ask for more troops? So why didn’t he do it years earlier? How many people died because of politics? We may never know.

#4. He outed an undercover CIA agent. Vice President Dick Cheney’s former chief of staff, Lewis “Scooter” Libby, was convicted of lying and obstruction of justice. He obstructed an investigation into the outing of Valerie Plame. What little evidence investigators could get pointed more at the Vice President’s office, but this one still falls on Bush’s shoulders. Check out this article.

#3. He waited forever to do anything about hurricane Katrina. This one shouldn’t even go on his resume. I mean it is an act of God, but when you sit on your hands for days after god thumps you one, each passing minute of indecision makes you loathed.

#2. He Invaded Iraq. It turns out that the intelligence about Iraq seeking uranium from Africa was over exaggerated. During the State of the Union Address on January 28, 2003, President Bush said;

“The British Government has learned that Saddam Hussein recently sought significant quantities of uranium from Africa.”

Apparently the intelligence that the President was speaking of was forged. Later, other people claimed the Dick Cheney was pushing the intelligence. Years later the White house would take back the words that lead us to war. Bush’s National Security Advisor, Condoleezza Rice said during a July 11, 2003 White House press briefing;

“What we’ve said subsequently is, knowing what we now know, that some of the Niger documents were apparently forged, we wouldn’t have put this in the President’s speech – but that’s knowing what we know now.”

So we invaded Iraq based on bullshit. Good Job George. Click here to read about the Vice president’s involvement.

Ok here it comes, we have finally arrived at the best reason to hate George W. Bush.

#1. He Authorized Water-boarding. Why do I say this is number one? Because America is more than a country, it is an idea. We are supposed to be the good guys. Being the good guys is why we won the cold war. Authorizing something that is against the Geneva Conventions, makes us look as bad as the terrorist that we are fighting, in the eyes of the rest of the world. We are suppose to be the people on higher ground. The people with God on our side, the morally right. And before someone makes a comment saying that water-boarding is not against the Geneva Conventions, then please read the Third Geneva Convention.

Here is an excerpt,

rt 3. In the case of armed conflict not of an international character occurring in the territory of one of the High Contracting Parties, each Party to the conflict shall be bound to apply, as a minimum, the following
provisions:
(1) Persons taking no active part in the hostilities, including members of armed forces who have laid down their arms and those placed hors de combat by sickness, wounds, detention, or any other cause, shall in all circumstances be treated humanely, without any adverse distinction founded on race, colour, religion or faith, sex, birth or wealth, or any other similar criteria. To this end the following acts are and shall remain prohibited at any time and in any place whatsoever with respect to the above-mentioned persons:
(a) violence to life and person, in particular murder of all kinds, mutilation, cruel treatment and torture;
(b) taking of hostages;
(c) outrages upon personal dignity, in particular, humiliating and degrading treatment;
(d) the passing of sentences and the carrying out of executions without previous judgment pronounced by a regularly constituted court affording all the judicial guarantees which are recognized as indispensable by civilized peoples.
(2) The wounded and sick shall be collected and cared for.
An impartial humanitarian body, such as the International Committee of the Red Cross, may offer its services to the Parties to the conflict.

The Parties to the conflict should further endeavour to bring into force, by means of special agreements, all or part of the other provisions of the present Convention.

The application of the preceding provisions shall not affect the legal status of the Parties to the conflict.

Now watch these simulations and try to say this is not defined above.
